It's a good friend who will rub your back!

Laura went for chemo on Thurs. and the shot of Nulastin (sp?) on Friday.

Yesterday, she felt really bad. Her bones were aching again. I think she was in bed until around dinner-time.

But! She said Mrs. Cannon came over and rubbed her back and so did Steve. That helped.

Haven't spoken with her today, but received a text that she's "better."

Will update when I know more.

Prayin' that the pain will go away.

Update:
2:30 PST
She forced herself to take a difficult walk around the block. She sounded better today than she did yesterday, but she still doesn't feel good. She's hoping to feel good enough later in the week to go to Atlanta. That's very indefinite, though.

Hi!

Just wanted to say how excellent the blog is. Emily is doing great, and is an inspiration, as usual. I always want to post something, but never know what. So anyway, for no particular reason, here is one of my favorite poems from childhood by Jack Perlutsky:

The Turkey Shot Out Of The Oven

The turkey shot out of the oven
and rocketed into the air,
it knocked every plate off the table
and partly demolished a chair.

It ricocheted into a corner
and burst with a deafening boom,
then splattered all over the kitchen,
completely obscuring the room.

It stuck to the walls and the windows,
it totally coated the floor,
there was turkey attached to the ceiling,
where there'd never been turkey before.

It blanketed every appliance,
it smeared every saucer and bowl,
there wasn't a way I could stop it,
that turkey was out of control.

I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure,
and thought with chagrin as I mopped,
that I'd never again stuff a turkey
with popcorn that hadn't been popped.

I hope you feel better, mama. I love you a lot and am still eating those black beans.

Wow Kyle! Thanks for the post and the "childhood" poem. I've never heard that one but I kind of like it. I wish I was in SFO cooking for you guys.

Lisa, I hope you froze the beans because they may be bad by now. Use your Everyday Foods magazine and cook up something new! You might surprise your self!

Hey Mrs. Laura,

Just wanted to let you know that Tobi and I are thinking about you always! Sorry about last post. I used incorrect grammar- you know me!

Love,

Elizabeth Collins

Thanks Liz! I love hearing from all of you and I'm not really concerned about incorrect grammar at this stage of my life! Since you're in college I guess you better keep up the correct grammar for yourself.
What's your favorite poem?
I can just visualize everybody sending in their favorite poems and everybody else reading the post snapping their fingers.

faith is a word that you mean to me,
a small little thing you have proven to be

from the day we first met she has been,
the most positive person i have met since then

her love for everyone is aparent and true,
she will do all she can to take care of you

a teacher she is, a teacher i am going to be,
i want to make a difference in a life like she has to me

she is my inspiration and i pray everyday,
that she keeps fightin her hardest in every way

GOD give her the strength that she has taught me,
to look fear in the eyes and say poo-wee!

ive made it over an 8 foot wall,
with the hands of those who wouldnt let me fall

she said you can do it and i started to cry,
but i still pushed through and made it to the other side

cancer is the wall, so mind-blowing, so big, so terrifying,
but when you seek something, prayer can send you flying

i love you mrs. kitchens, you are my hero,
so kick cancers butt and have not fearo!

I LOVE YOU MRS. KITCHENS!!!!!!
LOOOOOVE,
pais

ps. i left it on both posts just in case :]
