What a Week!

On Monday, May 11th, Laura was able to eat her first salad since November 3rd! She was so excited! She scoured the house for all of the possible vegetables she could add. It was a happy, happy day for her!

Later in the week, she met with her doctor (Dr. Jani) and they scheduled her surgery for May 28th. Details of the surgery are still being worked out.

And! For a few days, Lisa was home and now, Emily is home! Yea!

In other news, everyone on the GoFightWin team is raising money for the Breast Cancer 3-Day in Atlanta. So far, our team has raised, $3818.01! Our individual goals are to raise $2300 each by the time of the event. If you haven't donated, please consider it.

Thanks!

(For more information, go to http://www.the3day.org/. Or, see the May 4th entry to make a donation to any of our team members.)

I've been helping with the Tosca Project at school this whole week-- a movement-based collaboration between A.C.T. Core Company, Bay Area actors, modern dancers, and SF Ballet dancers exploring the history of San Francisco through the decades in a local bar in the heart of North Beach called Tosca after the famous opera. I've been mostly watching and taking it all in. The collaboration in the room is truly inspiring, fascinating, and enlightening. This morning when I got up to go to rehearsal, I put on crinkled, olive green (or brown, as Emily would inevitably correct me) pants--I desperately need to do laundry!--and my crisp, white GoFightWin! Tee. I did my normal amount of watching from the sidelines today, until we got to the 70's and one of the dancers had stepped out to go to another rehearsal. At this point, Carey (the director, and Artistic Director of A.C.T.) asked me to sub in, which I readily did. As I swooped off my brown, thrift-store-bought jacket to disco with members of SF ballet and my acting teacher/core company member Gregory Wallace to blaring disco music, Carey exclaimed, "Go, Fight, Win!" It was surreal, hilarious, and fun. Just thought I'd share. ------> Everyone should share cool stories that happened in their GoFightWin! attire...I know people have them!

Kyle,
I LOVE that story!
I don't think I have any really good ones... I DO wear my shirt, but no one seems to get swept up in it like when you wear yours.
Thanks for sharing your story and have a great weekend.

Here's my story: Every Monday morning at work, before our sales meeting concludes, as if a blessing were being asked, my seven colleagues and I, scanning the room around us, making eye contact between each and all, someone says, "okay..., Mary?????, and then led by me, we all shout "GO FIGHT WIN"!!! Then we all (we are grown adults) rapidly and dramatically scatter to our respective posts. We are ready for our day and for our week because we are GOING, FIGHTING, WINNING!

GO FIGHT WIN

I'm not sure who to give all the credit to but I know Betty Suggs and Sandra Parker have something to do with this story. This February, the teacher that took my place when I took a leave of absence, called me and asked me if I could come to school and sit in on a panel discussion about child care. I said I thought I could and did not realize it was my birthday. When I realized it I thought Mrs. Bell doesn't know my birthday and I can go for an hour. When I got to the school and entered the classroom it was indeed a surprise birthday party for me! I was surprised but more touched when all these teachers I work with came by to see me with there own Go Fight Win tee shirts. Betty had spearheaded the shirts. I thought that was pretty cool but then Sandra calls me up 2 months later and asked me to come to another teachers shower. It was on an afternoon that I had a doctors appointment and was unable to go. I called her up after the shower and she said everybody had on their Go Fight Win shirts and she wished I had been there. I said "why were y'all wearing those shirts to the wedding shower" and Sandra says "because today is the 5th." I say what does that mean and she says "that was the day you were born, right?" On the 5th of the every month everybody wears their Go Fight Win shirts! That is really COOL! Don't you think?!!!♥☺ But then again, I live and work with the best people in the world!♥
